The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation ( IILM ), a global issuer of Shariah-compliant short-term liquidity instruments, has achieved a new record outstanding sukuk portfolio of US$7.4 billion following the issuance and reissuance of US$1.19 billion of short-term sukuk on Tuesday ( August 4 ).
This marks the third consecutive increase in IILM’s outstanding sukuk portfolio over the past three auctions, a clear signal of sustained global demand for its highly rated instruments, the Kuala Lumpur-based company says in a statement.
The latest issuance and reissuance, comprising five tenors, were priced competitively at 3.85% for US$250 million, with a two-week maturity; 3.90% for US$330 million, one month; 4.00% for US$537 million, three months; 4.04% for US$61 million, six months; and 4.06% for US$14 million, 12 months.
The auction generated aggregate orders of US$2.61 billion, representing an oversubscription rate of 2.19 times.
IILM chief executive officer Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid comments: "The continued strength of investor demand for IILM sukuk reflects the growing importance of high-quality Shariah-compliant liquidity instruments in today’s market environment. Despite ongoing uncertainties across global financial markets and volatile geopolitical developments, investors continue to value the credit quality, regular supply, and liquidity benefits offered by IILM’s short-term sukuk.”
Tuesday’s transaction marks the IILM’s 15th sukuk auction in 2026, bringing total issuances for the year to US$18.28 billion across 71 sukuk series of varying maturities. All issuances were conducted under the IILM’s US$8.5 billion short-term sukuk issuance programme, rated “A-1” by S&P Global Ratings and “F1” by Fitch Ratings.
The IILM’s short-term sukuk is distributed by a diversified and growing network of 16 primary dealers globally, namely Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Baraka Turk, Affin Islamic Bank, AlRayan Bank, Boubyan Bank, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, Dukhan Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Golden Global Investment Bank, Jaiz Bank, Kuwait Finance House, Kuwait International Bank, Maybank Islamic Berhad, Meethaq Islamic Banking from Bank Muscat, Qatar Islamic Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank.
In line with its published issuance calendar, IILM says it will continue to regularly issue high-quality short-term sukuk across multiple tenors to support the liquidity management requirements of Islamic financial institutions globally.
