New York-listed Jones Lang LaSalle ( JLL ) has appointed James Cameron as head of energy and infrastructure, Asia-Pacific, for its capital markets business line.

In the newly created role, based in Singapore, Cameron will be responsible for building a team in Asia-Pacific. His appointment will complement JLL’s market-leading energy and infrastructure business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, creating a global capital advisory capability to better serve local and international developers and investors.

According to JLL, launching a dedicated energy and infrastructure offering in Asia-Pacific under Cameron’s leadership corresponds with unprecedented long-term capital requirements to facilitate the infrastructure and renewables build-out required to meet the multiple challenges of decarbonization, digitalization, economic growth and rapid urbanization. JLL also sees an increasing convergence as investors and developers consider adjacent infrastructure and commercial real estate opportunities within integrated and decarbonization-focused real asset strategies.

“We see significant opportunity to leverage our unique expertise in mobilizing multiple sources of capital and JLL’s unrivalled track record in advising renewables transactions globally to serve clients within energy and infrastructure across Asia-Pacific,” says Stuart Crow, JLL’s chief executive of capital markets for Asia-Pacific.

“James’ experience in this exciting space is unmatched regionally and we’re extremely confident in his ability to establish JLL’s leadership position through his expertise and client relationships.”

Cameron will collaborate closely with JLL’s broader capital markets, investment banking and debt advisory teams across the region, focusing on origination of capital raising and transaction advisory opportunities for large infrastructure and renewable transactions serving institutional investors, private equity, asset managers, strategic infrastructure and renewables operators and developers, high-net-worth individuals and family offices.

Cameron has over 25 years of experience in real asset capital markets, having successfully mobilized all forms of private and public equity and financing across the global and regional infrastructure, cleantech and commercial real estate sectors.

Most recently, he was global head of commercial real estate at Standard Chartered Bank, based in Singapore, and previously led Standard Chartered’s global power, utilities, infrastructure and cleantech businesses as well as HSBC’s infrastructure and real estate group in Asia-Pacific.
