Cécile Gambardella

Citi has appointed Cécile Gambardella as its head of sales for its markets business in Japan, Asia North, Australia and Asia South, with responsibility for spearheading the development and expansion of relationships across the bank’s markets franchise in the region.

Based in Hong Kong, she will report to Paul Smith, head of markets, Japan, Asia North and Australia and Sue Lee, head of markets, Asia South.

Gambardella brings a wealth of experience with a strong network across Citi. She joined Citi in 2022 and was most recently head of markets for France & BeNeLux, where she provided regional leadership in full partnership with the product areas across all customer segments, including investors, corporates and public sector clients. Prior to Citi, she worked at Bank of America and JPMorgan in local and G10 markets roles.

“Asia-Pacific is key to our franchise with strong growth potential, particularly in financing and cross-border transactions, which are core businesses,” Smith says. “With Gambardella’s track record and wide network, she is well placed to lead our sales team as we drive further growth across our Asia markets businesses.”
