Bank of East Asia ( BEA ) has collaborated with cloud software firm Nutanix to enhance its sales surveillance and compliance measures through an artificial intelligence-powered speech-to-text solution.
The bank has adopted the Nutanix Cloud Platform as it enables applications to run across diverse cloud environments including at the edge, on-premise and in public clouds – and provides fast integration with the open-source container application platform, Red Hat OpenShift, Nutanix says.
The combination of Nutanix and Red Hat OpenShift provides a highly agile and efficient IT infrastructure, enabling BEA to allocate resources more conveniently and simplify its IT operations from hardware to application, it adds.
Hong Kong start-up Fano Labs is the bank’s first partner to operate on Nutanix with Red Hat OpenShift. BEA uses Fano Labs’ AI-powered speech recognition tool to analyze customer interactions including calls, e-mails and live chats, enhancing the bank’s capability in compliance and risk management. The collaboration with Fano Labs was facilitated by BEAST ( BEA + start-ups ), the bank’s fintech innovation centre and start-up collaboration platform.
“By leveraging Nutanix’s leading cloud platform, we have ensured agile resource optimization, and embraced emerging AI technologies as a core component of our fintech strategy,” says Stephen Leung, group CIO, general manager and head of the technology and productivity division at BEA. “This implementation enables BEA to bolster compliance measures and deliver quality banking services to our customers.”
Hong Kong-based BEA has an extensive network of about 130 outlets covering Hong Kong, mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
