DayOne, a Singapore-headquartered global digital infrastructure platform, has secured a four-year, S$530 million ( US$414.83 million ) green loan from DBS, OCBC and UOB to support the development of its first data centre in Singapore.
The project, called DayOne SG1, is a 20-megawatt hyperscale facility located within the Jurong East Data Centre Cluster in the Western part of Singapore. It is expected to be the first data centre in the city-state to generate clean electricity using on-site solid oxide fuel cell ( SOFC ) technology as part of a proof-of-concept initiative exploring hydrogen-based energy solutions.
The facility broke ground in July 2025 and is expected to become operational by Q1 2027.
The transaction comes amid growing demand for digital infrastructure globally, driven by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence ( AI ), cloud computing and 5G technologies.
The loan is structured in accordance with internationally recognized Green Loan Principles. DBS, OCBC and UOB are acting as joint mandated lead arrangers, bookrunners and green loan coordinators for the facility. DBS is also serving as the facility and security agent.
Energy efficiency
Designed with sustainability at its core, the data centre will feature vertical building-integrated photovoltaics and incorporate hybrid air- and liquid-cooling technologies to enhance energy efficiency.
In December 2025, the facility achieved BCA Green Mark Platinum ( provisional ) certification, the highest Green Mark rating awarded by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority under the Green Mark for Data Centres Scheme.
Since its establishment in 2022, DayOne has rapidly expanded its footprint across Asia and Europe, with a presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, Finland and Spain.
Han Kwee Juan, group head of institutional banking at DBS, comments: “Demand for digital infrastructure is accelerating as AI and cloud computing continue to reshape economies across Asia. This is driving an increase in energy consumption and the need for more energy-efficient infrastructure. Drawing on our expertise in financing digital and renewable infrastructure projects, we are pleased to partner DayOne and the bank consortium to finance Singapore’s first data centre to pioneer a proof-of-concept for hydrogen-based energy. Singapore is well-positioned to lead financing of green and energy efficient digital infrastructure in Asia.”
"Singapore's first data centre incorporating hydrogen power represents an important milestone in the evolution of sustainable digital infrastructure," notes Elaine Lam, head of global corporate banking at OCBC. "As demand for digital services and connectivity continues to grow, innovative energy solutions will play an increasingly important role in supporting this growth sustainably."
Edmund Leong, head of group corporate banking and sector solutions group at UOB, adds: “As AI adoption accelerates, digital infrastructure is becoming a strategic asset that underpins economic competitiveness, innovation and resilience. This financing supports next-generation infrastructure that will strengthen Singapore's position as a leading AI and digital hub while advancing sustainability goals.”
