Information and technology provider NEC Indonesia and Indonesian property developer Sinar Mas Land, through its subsidiary Samakta Mitra, have teamed up to mitigate the impact of climate change by leveraging Adaptation Finance and disaster mitigation visualisation technology.
Adaptation Finance is an initiative developed by the United Nations Environment Programme, designed to assess the risks and impacts of natural disasters caused by climate change. It aims to identify risks early, plan mitigation strategies and foster greater business resilience.
Through this collaboration, Sinar Mas Land and NEC Indonesia will develop risk visualisation solutions capable of mapping the potential for natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes and tropical cyclones.
This will, the companies say, accelerate the adoption of disaster risk mitigation solutions among insurance companies, banks and investment firms. This initiative also supports better protection for communities and infrastructure in the future.
By using data-driven solutions, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence, NEC Indonesia, it notes, will identify potential threats, assess environmental impacts, and provide more effective risk mitigation recommendations.
This technology enables more strategic and sustainable allocation of funds, allowing Adaptation Finance to deliver positive effects on society, the business community and the environment.
